It's been a while!

Like it says, It has been a while since we posted anything new on our blog. I use to get after Jake&Joellen for not updating their blog as often as I had hoped. And now look at us, we have become that which we hate! Wannabee bloggers! But we aren't giving up without a fight! So here are some pictures to get you back up to speed.
This picture was taken at the after party for Axel's blessing. And as you can see Axel is having a great time! I think he may have drunk too much champaign (he has never been able to hold his liquor).

This is Amanda being her sassy self! She gets her photo taken so much that she just strikes a pose every time we look at her! As you can see from the picture. This is me and my boy! Me and Jared we were having a conversation while I was holding him. And Axel thought we were talking to him, so he got really excited about it all! Good looking kid!

This is Thanksgiving day! Anna always likes to see what Axel is up too, so Joellen put the both of them on her lap. As you can see, Anna was having a good time. While Axel is just content with being in the middle of things!

We had 11 people over for Thanksgiving this year, so Jared felt it necessary to make a pie for every person. Well not every person, he was two short of 11. You can see 8 in this picture but what you can't see is the one in the fridge. (4 pumpkin, 1 apple, 1 mixed berry, 1 Pecan, 1 Banana cream, and a chocolate cream!)

Jenkins business!

We had a whole bunch of great pictures that I felt the world needed to see. So here they are! This is our boy dressed as a pirate! Rachel made this outfit from scratch! She is is pretty handy with a pair of scissors.
Check out the awesome shirt he is sporting! Nothing like plaid and ivory snaps to make women melt!
This is my dad dressed for success! The funny thing is that his fake mustache is the only change he made from his regular attire.
Here is my cute wife and cute baby! I'm a lucky man!

My baby and his grandpa. Us Jenkins men are good looking!

Rachel's First Blog! It doesn't get any cuter than this! (At least we think so!)

This is Rachel! This is the first time I have ever blogged! Justin usually takes care of all the blogging, but this time I thought I would take a shot at it. Justin thinks blogging is a chick thing, but I reasured him that he is just breaking down gender barriers - and not getting in touch with his femine side :)

Now, we try to avoid being the cliche parents that post their baby's every move. I just realize that everyone might not think our baby is as cute as we think he is. But I just loved this video and couldn't help but show him off. Every morning Axel smiles, laughs and talks to us - he is always so happy when he wakes up. He just babbles on all the time - I love hearing him "talk".

Axel is 2 months old and now weighs close to 14 pounds! He has almost doubled his birthweight! So I guess he's getting enough to eat! I just love being a mom - life is awesome right now!

Thomas is back!

So Thomas is home! It is crazy for us to have him back home, well home with my parents. I remember when I came home the only major change among the family was that, people were older and taller. But for Thomas it was a whole different ball game, he came home to a new niece, nephew, and sister in law (Rachel). Crazy fun stuff.
Here is Grandpa and Anna waiting anxiously for Thomas to come off the plane. Which took forever by the way, I guess all the missionaries were in the back of the plane. This is Mom getting the first hug, I couldn't believe how old he looked. He has always just been my younger brother, but now he is more like a man!
He is looking good! I think that missionaries always looking their best when they comes right off the plane. It is like a cookie, always the best when fresh out of the oven.
We made Thomas, Amanda, and Ryan all sit in the back. That way they could all still understand their place in the pecking order! The bottom! We always put out the Welcome Home sign. He is a good looking missionary, I remember when I got home it was all just one big blur! It is good to have him back!

Life with the Jenkins

I thought that would put some pictures of what is going on at home in Bountiful. We have been pretty busy since the baby came. I have been going to school and working full-time and Rachel is getting ready to start teaching guitar lessons here in October. She teaches them from our apartment so it works out great with her having this new baby and all. This is right before school started up, that is why I still have my dirty beard. I shaved it off so that they wouldn't mistake me for a homeless person.
This is when we me and Rachel went to Crystal Hot springs for just a weekend get away. I remember the Hot springs being in better shape. That place is pretty run down now a days, but the old people just can't get enough of it!
I really like this picture, it shows off my keen sense of style!
We got this robe and fell in love with it! This kid has more clothes than Rachel, at last count we were looking at like over 100 outfits!

These are my peppers, when we first got married I was looking for something to do and for some reason peppers caught my eye. I have 3 kinds growing out in front of the apartment, jalepenos, and 2 kinds of habaneros. It has been over a year and I finally have some habaneros growing, I can't wait for the heat!

Trip to Tahoe

Here are some pictures of when we went to Lake Tahoe with Rachel's parents. We wanted to go on a trip before Axel came, and it worked out great! Rachel's father has a time share and so we got to stay at Tahoe for a whole week. Before I got married I had never even taken a week long trip. The thing with week long trips is that you almost forget that you have a life away from vacation. It was so freaking hard for me to go back to work that next Monday. Here I am all hairy like, I didn't shave all summer long. Since I work as a custodian for the Davis School District I didn't have anyone to impress anyways.
This is the day that we played games. I am serious about the day thing, we started to play games at like 9:00 am and didn't stop until around 9:00 pm!
This was the day that me and Rachel walked down to the State line. It is like the California equivalent of Wendover. Well we passed this guy, who I guess was also on a walk. (I had hoped his rascal would run out of juice!)

This is a birds eye view of Rachel's pregnant haunch. You know what they say "Only a poor man can't build a shed over his best tool!"
This is just a picture of a happy Rachel, we were at a visitor's center for Tahoe. It would suck so bad to work for the forrest department. They all come off as potential serial killers, they live in the woods and are alone for most of the day! Creepy!

Some new stuff!

I am getting to like this blogging thing, but I do have a lot of catching up to do. So if figured I should post some more pictures. I don't have the Internet at my apartment so I only have access to the photos on my camera. But I will get some of our vacation pics posted so that everyone can see that we don't just sit around waiting to have babies. Here is happy pregnant Rachel, this is just a couple of days before she had Axel. I was surprised that she was still happy after 9 months of pregnancy. What a champ, although she couldn't sleep at night!
This is Axel when he was just 5 days old, I am sure he is just farting or something but we would like to think that he is just happy to be here.
Rachel took these pictures, she did a great job of getting him to smile.
This is how he likes to sleep at night I think he has dreams of being a bar tender at a saloon, and is being held up for all his cash!

This is him with his hair parted, this is how the nursery gave him to us right after he was born. Looks like a good future missionary to me!

Here is Grandma with Axel, he is just hours old.
Now that is a nice head of hair!
This is him just before we went home from the hospital.

Axel Kent Jenkins

Well here he is, finally after 9 months of waiting he came! He was the perfect weight and size, 7 lbs. 10 oz. and 21 inches long.
Since I am the husband and therefore not the one who gave actual birth to the child, my perception of the birth is obviously skewed.
It was a long labor, that started on Tuesday the 12th and she finally gave birth at 4:21 am on Thursday morning (all natural might I add! Apparently there come some bragging rights with natural child birth so I have to give props where props are due!) I was also unbelievable might I add, you should have seen me not one tear and no drugs! So I guess I also went all natural, I guess we are just an all natural kind of family. Except for the steroids I take! (Just Kidding) Anyways on with the story, Rachel had Axel the morning of the 14th and we were home on Friday afternoon the 15th. It was nice to be able to go home so soon, even though the hospital was so much fun. There is something about hospitals that just doesn't sit well with me. Maybe it is the smell of disinfectant or the god complex that all of the doctors have, I can't really put my finger on it. All I know is that sleeping at home in my tiny little apartment was way better than a hospital room any day. Besides, the husband is not a priority when it comes to your wife having a baby. You would think that with all of the money you are giving them that they could spare a pack of saltines and maybe a juice box or something. I guess they want the woman to be the comfortable one, since she did all the "work"! (Again Just Kidding) Rachel did an amazing job, I could never imagine being able to do something like that without the assistance of drugs, or doing it at all for that matter! I am what people would call a "pussy" or a "wuss" if you will! I guess Rachel must be one of those people that kind of likes pain, a bit of a masochist if you will. I think at one time during the birth I heard her say, and I quote "This hurts so Good!" Ha! It was a great experience for the both of us, at least for me becoming a father is a huge step in the right direction!
